Bad blogger

I’m sorry – I haven’t managed to quite get this blog going how I’d wanted to.  I wanted to share so much paper crafting joy, share my creations and hopefully make some online crafting friends.  Unfortunately, for many reasons it’s not been as easy as I thought.

One fairly practical reason why I can’t do lots of sharing is that my digital camera broke on me and I don’t have a smartphone to take pictures.  I’m hoping to get that sorted soon so that I can share all my favorite creations.

I am also being tested quite a lot now personally and although I relish in the tests that God gives me, it of course makes my plans harder to keep going.  Of course, perhaps that is the reason, perhaps my plans are nothing compared to what God has in store for me.  We will surely see and I am giving myself up to the new path that is opening up in front of me and letting myself be guided by Him.

As for now, I just wanted to make a post and assure you that I haven’t forgotten about you!  I will be trying to make this blog better in the coming months.

Speak soon and God bless x

Time for something new

Ok, so you may have seen on one of my first posts that I have decided to dip my toe in the water of the electronic cutting machines that are out there.  I did a LOT of searching online about them from YouTube to articles about which vinyl cutting machine to buy – you name it I read it!  I eventually came across an article that helped immensely by a lovely lady called Kristy and it really did help me narrow down my choices.

I have been a paper crafter for so long now that I did wonder if I’d been stuck in the mud a bit when it comes to trying new things.  I think, if truth be told, that I was scared to get too technical!  But, as if someone knew my predicament, I begun to start getting twitchy and wanting a new challenge.  It was then that I started to search the internet for what that next challenge would be!  I’m so happy, because it sticks so close to the paper crafting I do already and which brings me so much joy, but it also will challenge me to try new things,   I’ve been thinking that I should challenge myself since I read this article – I don’t know about you, but I can start to feel really comfortable in my life which is great for a while, but quite honestly, lately it’s been getting boring!  But I love my life and I don’t want to go too crazy – time for some new paperfcrafting skills it is.

Anyway – I will be sure to update you on how my purchase went and what I’ve been making.  Oh, you want to know what I chose?  Well of course: it was the Cricut Air Explore 2.  Not an insignificant purchase, but I was guided there and believe it will be my best friend soon enough!

Summer cards inspiration

What do you think of when you think of summer?  I’ve been searching for some ideas lately.  I have a lot of family and friends with birthdays coming up and also a couple of weddings that I’m super excited to attend soon so that means lots of card making.

So my ideas for summer:

  • bouquets of flowers
  • a meadow with butterflies
  • the beach
  • a pretty sunset across the bay

Any more you can think of?

Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you – I have found YouTube!  I know that sounds so crazy since it’s been there for ages and of course I’ve known about it all these years but I thought it was all random things on there and not for me.  Well, I found so many tutorials and videos of card making – I think I may need to schedule some more time just for inspiration finding!

Here’s one of my favourite channels I’ve found so far –

Where to get supplies for papercrafting

Ok, for my first proper post I wanted to give a little insight in to where I get all my gorgeous supplies.  It can get a little overwhelming knowing where to start, so I really hope that y’all will find this blog post helpful.

The big stores:

Ok first things first, let’s look at the bigger stores and what is available where.

Michaels is one of the biggest stores around and excellent for getting a good starter set of cardstock and stamps or anything you want really.  I have one really close by to me so I do go there often and can always find what I want.

Joanns is similar and I have to say one of my favorites – I’m sad that I don’t have one as close as I do with Michaels but perhaps that’s God’s way of keeping me from spending all my money in there!

Now I’m a big fan of not always being in the big stores.  If you want a bit more of a personal service then I’d suggest maybe seeing if you can find a Stampin Up distributer near by you.  There’s bound to be someone and you can see in person some of the best stamps, dies and paper crafting kits out there.

I’d also say that you should look to see if you have any small independent shops in your town or city too.  Not only can these be great places if you run short of supplies, but it can also get you involved in the crafting community that is local to you.  If you don’t know of anywhere, ask your friends or do an internet search to see if you can find anything nearby.  I love supporting smaller businesses and it makes my heart sing to know I am helping them out.

Of course online there’s a lot of places you can get started and get supplies from.  I often get cardstock from eBay and Amazon and of course for the bigger items you can get some amazing deals from Amazon.  I’ve just dipped my toe in the cutting machines water and got a great deal on an item from Amazon, way better than even the big stores nearby.   Sometimes it’s nice to see the items in person though so I’d definitely look at a store and if you’re not ready to buy right there and then take a look online and see if you can get a better deal.  All the savings can go towards more craft supplies!
